An 85-year-old man was seriously injured after being attacked during a robbery at his home in Cyprus’s Nicosia district, according to police.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon between approximately 5:00 and 6:20 p.m., when an unidentified individual forced entry into the elderly man’s residence. Authorities say the intruder assaulted the homeowner before stealing an unspecified amount of cash and fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. Medical examinations revealed severe injuries, including a fractured skull, broken ribs, head lacerations, and significant swelling and bruising around one eye.
Police are treating the case as a robbery involving grievous bodily harm, unlawful entry, and theft. The investigation is being handled by the Morphou Criminal Investigation Department, and inquiries are ongoing as officers work to identify and locate the suspect.
