A gentle blanket of high pressure is keeping watch over Cyprus, promising another lovely early-summer day across the island.
Any sleepy patches of low cloud lingering this morning won't be staying long. The sun is expected to take centre stage for most of the day, although a few fluffy clouds may gather over the mountains after lunchtime. If they become a little too adventurous, they could squeeze out an isolated shower or two.
A light southwest to northwest breeze will wander across the island, occasionally finding a little extra energy along exposed coastlines during the afternoon. The sea remains in a relaxed mood, generally calm and inviting.
Temperatures will climb to a warm 31°C inland, around 28°C along the south and east coasts, 26°C on western and northern shores, and a pleasantly fresh 23°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, skies will mostly sparkle under clear conditions, though a few low clouds may drift through eastern districts. Early risers could also stumble upon pockets of mist or fog across inland and eastern areas as dawn quietly approaches.
Looking ahead
Saturday is shaping up to be another sun-filled affair. Expect plenty of bright weather, mixed with occasional cloud. By afternoon, mountain and inland clouds may begin building their daily castles in the sky, bringing the chance of a few isolated showers and perhaps even a shy thunderstorm making a brief appearance.
Sunday and Monday continue the cheerful theme, with sunshine dominating most areas. As has become tradition, a few afternoon clouds may gather over the mountains, carrying the slight possibility of a passing shower.
Temperatures on Saturday will stay close to what we'd normally expect for early June. Sunday's sunshine will nudge the mercury a little higher, and Monday looks set to maintain those warmer-than-average conditions.
