Blue skies, calm seas and a very June-like day

Sunshine dominates across Cyprus today, with only a tiny chance of a mountain shower interrupting the blue skies.

If yesterday's forecast sounded settled, today's has gone one step further.

The weather across Cyprus appears to have reached that pleasant early-summer stage where the forecast writer starts running out of exciting things to report. No thunderstorms lurking in the afternoon, no surprise downpours, no dramatic weather systems marching across the Mediterranean; just sunshine getting on with the job.

A weak area of high pressure is influencing the region, bringing another mostly sunny day to the island. The only possible exception comes in the mountains this afternoon, where a few extra clouds may gather and perhaps squeeze out an isolated shower before quickly moving on.

Elsewhere, the skies should remain largely blue from morning through evening.

Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest at light to moderate levels, occasionally becoming a little more energetic along exposed coastal areas during the afternoon. The sea remains slight and welcoming, continuing a run of favourable conditions for beachgoers, swimmers and anyone still mentally extending the Kataklysmos holiday.

Temperatures will reach around 32°C inland, about 30°C along the southern and eastern coasts, 27°C on western and northern shores, and a comfortable 22°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight brings more clear skies, light winds and calm seas, the sort of evening made for outdoor dining, evening walks and convincing yourself that tomorrow's responsibilities can wait just a little longer.

The outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday is refreshingly simple: mostly sunny, warm and stable.

Temperatures are expected to remain close to seasonal averages, which means Cyprus continues to enjoy that brief sweet spot before the deeper heat of summer arrives and everyone begins comparing air-conditioning bills.

For now, at least, the island seems content to offer sunshine with very few complications attached.
