After weeks of afternoon surprises, wandering thunderstorms and clouds that seemed determined to keep meteorologists on their toes, the weather across Cyprus has finally made a decision.
And that decision is sunshine.
Weak high pressure is beginning to take hold across the region, bringing a much calmer and more settled pattern to the island. For anyone who spent the long Kataklysmos weekend checking the sky every few hours just in case, today's forecast comes as a welcome relief.
Most of Cyprus can expect wall-to-wall sunshine for much of the day, with only the occasional fair-weather cloud drifting overhead. Winds will remain light to moderate, freshening slightly during the afternoon, while the sea stays calm to slight and inviting.
Temperatures will climb to around 33°C inland, reaching about 28°C along the southern and eastern coasts, 26°C on western and northern shores and around 22°C in the higher mountains.
In short: sunglasses weather.
Tonight remains mostly clear and pleasantly calm, with light breezes and tranquil seas continuing across the island.
Looking ahead, Wednesday may see a little afternoon cloud build-up over the mountains, with the faint possibility of an isolated shower. Apart from that, the forecast reads almost like a copy-and-paste job, with Thursday and Friday expected to remain largely sunny.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly over the coming days, staying close to seasonal averages.
For a nation slowly settling back into work and school after the holiday weekend, the weather seems determined to make the transition as painless as possible. The skies are blue, the sea is calm, and June has arrived looking exactly as June should.
