Cyprus wakes up warm, bright and almost convincingly summery today, although the atmosphere still seems unwilling to fully commit to stable weather just yet.
An unstable air mass continues to hover over the region, meaning today will once again begin peacefully before afternoon clouds start plotting their daily return.
For much of the morning, conditions will feel pleasant and comfortably warm across the island, with sunshine breaking through periods of cloud and breezes keeping the air moving. By later in the afternoon though, thicker cloud is expected to gather over southern and eastern areas, where isolated showers or thunderstorms may briefly appear.
It’s become the weather equivalent of a daily routine at this point: sunshine first, suspicious-looking mountain clouds later.
Winds will blow from the southwest to northwest at moderate to strong levels, giving coastal areas a breezier feel throughout the day, while the sea remains slight to moderate.
Temperatures will rise to around 32°C inland, near 30°C along the southern and eastern coasts, about 26°C in western and northern areas and around 22°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, skies will clear once again, bringing calmer conditions, lighter winds and a quieter evening across the island.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday are all expected to follow a similar pattern, with sunshine dominating the mornings before afternoon cloud build-up triggers local showers or isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains and inland regions.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through the long weekend and will remain close to seasonal averages, which means Cyprus continues sitting comfortably in that sweet spot where the sea feels inviting, the evenings stay pleasant and everyone suddenly remembers they need to “start getting beach-ready.”
