The day begins with Cyprus wearing its best summer impression; bright skies, warm sunshine and just enough breeze to keep the morning feeling comfortable rather than sleepy.
Most areas will enjoy a mostly clear start to the day, perfect for morning coffees outdoors, hurried beach plans or pretending emails do not exist for another hour or two. As temperatures rise later on, clouds are expected to slowly gather over the mountains, where isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop during the afternoon.
An unstable air mass is still lingering over the region though, quietly waiting for the afternoon to stir things up a little.
Nothing especially widespread is expected, but the mountains may once again put on their usual late-day performance of rumbling skies and brief bursts of rain before settling down again by evening.
Winds will move mainly from the southwest to northwest, staying light to moderate through the day, while the sea remains slight to a little rough, still inviting enough for anyone already mentally beginning their summer routine.
Temperatures will rise to around 31°C inland, near 28°C along the southern and eastern coasts, around 26°C on the rest of the coastline and about 20°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, skies will clear once more, although patches of low cloud may drift through western areas from time to time. Winds will stay light and the sea will gradually calm.
Thursday follows a similar pattern, with afternoon cloud build-up bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly over mountain and inland areas. Friday may bring isolated rain to southern and eastern parts of the island, while Saturday returns to the now-familiar mix of sunshine, clouds and scattered afternoon storms inland.
Temperatures are expected to hold steady through Saturday, remaining close to the seasonal average; warm enough for summer clothes, but still forgiving enough to leave the house at midday without instantly regretting it.
