Cyprus wakes today beneath bright skies and gentle breezes, with the island slowly settling into that familiar stretch of late spring where summer suddenly feels very close indeed.
A weak low-pressure system and a slightly unstable air mass are still lingering over the region, but today’s weather begins on a calm and pleasant note. Sunshine will dominate for much of the morning, while the sea stays peaceful and the air carries just enough warmth to tempt people into “maybe one quick swim after work.”
As the afternoon arrives, clouds are expected to build over mountainous and inland areas, where isolated showers or thunderstorms may briefly appear. It’s the sort of weather that likes to keep one eye on summer while still holding onto a few spring habits.
Winds will drift from the southwest to northwest at gentle to moderate levels, keeping conditions comfortable across most of the island, while the sea remains slight and easygoing.
Temperatures will climb to around 28°C inland, near 26°C along the southern and eastern coasts, about 24°C in western and northern areas, and a fresher 18°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, skies will clear once again, bringing a quiet and settled evening with light breezes and calm seas.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are expected to follow a similar rhythm, with sunshine through the morning followed by afternoon cloud build-up and the chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms mainly over mountain and inland regions.
Temperatures will gradually continue to rise over the coming days, returning to levels much closer to what Cyprus usually expects at this time of year which, for many people, means officially beginning the annual debate over whether it is already “too hot” or still “not real summer yet.”
