Friday has arrived with one foot in spring and the other already tiptoeing toward summer.
The morning opens with soft patches of cloud drifting lazily across Cyprus, while warm air and bright skies gently ease the island into the final stretch before the weekend. A weak low-pressure system and an unsettled air mass are still nearby though, meaning the calmer start will slowly give way to a more changeable afternoon.
As the day stretches on, clouds are expected to puff up over the mountains and inland areas, where isolated showers and thunderstorms may bloom after midday. It’s the kind of weather that begins with sunglasses and ends with people peeking suspiciously at the sky from café terraces.
Winds will gather strength as the hours pass, sweeping in from the south and southwest and adding a little extra wobble to palm trees, beach umbrellas and anyone attempting a carefully styled hairstyle. The sea will also grow livelier by the afternoon, trading its gentle morning mood for choppier waters along the coast.
Temperatures will climb to around 29°C inland, near 27°C along the southern, eastern and northern coasts, around 24°C in western areas and about 18°C in the higher mountains, where the air will feel noticeably fresher.
Tonight, the island quiets down again beneath patches of low cloud, while early risers tomorrow morning may spot a little mist or fog lingering sleepily before sunrise.
Saturday continues the island’s playful run of spring weather, with clouds and scattered showers expected to gather again later in the day, especially over the mountains and eastern half of Cyprus, where thunderstorms and even small bursts of hail may appear.
Sunday and Monday follow a similar rhythm, with sunshine giving way to afternoon cloud build-up and the occasional shower inland and over higher ground.
Temperatures will dip below the usual seasonal levels on Saturday and stay there into early next week, offering Cyprus a brief cool pause before summer fully settles in.
