AG files appeal against acquittal in first 'golden passport' trial

An appeal was filed against the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court's acquittal

The Attorney General of the Republic filed an appeal on Friday against the acquittal decision of the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court, issued on November 4, 2022, in connection with a case involving the exceptional naturalization of foreign investors and businessmen.

According to a Legal Service statement, the appeal is against the acquittal in a criminal case involving two lawyers, their law firm, three companies providing administrative services to the said law firm, and three employees of these companies, and involves charges of conspiracy to defraud the Republic, forgery and circulation of forged documents, securing registration through false representations, and money laundering.
