A male teacher at a high school in Nicosia is being accused of touching inappropriately a female student, with local reports suggesting a number of girls have described the educator as being too friendly.
According to Philenews, three female students at a public high school in Nicosia submitted a written complaint to the administration, in which the three of them and four other classmates claim their teacher displays “weird behavior” by often approaching girls, staring at them, touching them, and making comments described as “verbal innuendos.”
The letter also made references to an alleged incident on Tuesday, where the teacher “touched inappropriately” a different female student using his palm.

Law enforcement authorities have confirmed an investigation was taking place but declined to comment on details, citing complaints by some accusers who did not wish to give statements to the police after the knowledge of the letter was made public.
“We have to be very careful in how we go about commenting on such cases involving offenses of this nature,” police spokesperson Christos Andreou told a local TV network on Thursday morning.
Andreou added that the complaints were being investigated “in the strictest of confidence so that children who make these accusations do not face additional problems.”
Last week a different male teacher at a junior high school in Limassol was remanded in custody after a group of female students accused him of sexual harassment in the classroom.
A girl attending the school in question in Limassol district had filed a complaint with police after a social media post regarding an “uncomfortable encounter” was shared in a group where journalists and parents were also tagged.
