According to Kathimerini Cyprus, a large-scale operation was underway in Anthoupoli at the residence of a local man known to authorities. Local reports said a 27-year-old male suspect was arrested around noon.
Last week, the body of a 35-year-old man was found along the Anthoupoli-Agious Trimithias road, in the rural western sector of Nicosia district, with authorities attributing the death to the use of drugs.
State pathologist Angeliki Papetta made no comments last Thursday as she was leaving the scene, while local reports said there had been no preliminary signs of foul play.
But media reports drew links between the death and the arrest of the 27-year-old suspect as well as drugs found on his premises. Cops also discovered a robust network of security cameras, which were described as “possibly unlawful” and “over the top”.
It is understood that lab tests ordered on drug paraphernalia from the scene last week were believed by police to have some connection with the search at the suspect’s home.
