Arrests made for illegal employment at construction site with fines totaling €41,050

Seven foreign workers arrested and three employers investigated in coordinated raid.

Authorities continued their crackdown on illegal employment, undeclared work, and unauthorized labor with a coordinated inspection at a construction site in Larnaca on Tuesday morning.

The operation, which began at 9:30 a.m., led to the arrest of seven foreign nationals for working illegally without authorization. Authorities also determined that two of the seven were residing in Cyprus illegally.

The seven are under investigation for illegal employment, while three employers face probes for illegal hiring practices. One employer was arrested at the construction site, and the other two were summoned and reported to the local police station.

The raid involved officers from the Aliens and Immigration Department – Larnaca District Unit, the Green Line Surveillance and Migration Flows Unit, and officials from the Labor Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Insurance.

Labor Department officials issued eight administrative fines totaling €41,050 for violations of undeclared work legislation.
