A local man was killed in a road accident Sunday evening when his motorcycle collided sideways with an oncoming vehicle outside Ayia Napa.
According to police, 22-year-old Andreas Andreou from Frenaros was riding his high torque motorcycle on Cape Greco Avenue towards Ayia Napa around 8pm when he collided sideways with a car coming from the opposite direction towards Protaras.
Following the collision, the Greek Cypriot biker was ejected from his seat while the motorcycle veered off and ended up in a ditch. Andreou, a father of a one-year-old child, was rushed to the Emergency Room at Famagusta General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.

A police statement on Monday said it appeared that the biker had not been wearing his helmet while it later emerged that he was also driving without a licence.
No further details were given regarding the circumstances of the accident while it was unclear whether other vehicles had been involved. A second official statement was said to be forthcoming Monday late morning with additional details.
A Breathalyzer test was administered on the 23-year-old car driver, said to be a Pakistani national according to RIK News and driving with three passengers. The results indicated no alcohol in his breath.
