The British Forces Cyprus have expressed sorrow for the "hostile response of a very small minority towards our charity concert planned for 2 June, which had always been intended as an opportunity to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with friends and to raise funds for some very worthy causes."

A statement from the Bases on the platinum jubilee concert says that "the resulting withdrawal of some of the concert’s partners and beneficiaries was equally sad, but we respect those decisions and hope to be able to work with them again in the future."

Moreover, it says that "we must not forget the past - but it is most important to look to the future. Today, the relationship that the UK shares with Cyprus is one of friendship and close partnership; spanning a broad network of security, personal, business, administrative, cultural and educational ties."

It adds that "we remain committed to putting on a truly fantastic event and have decided that the concert will now take place in Happy Valley within the Defence estate at Episkopi."

All proceeds will still be donated to extremely worthwhile charities, "and there are still many brilliant acts in the line-up to look forward to."

Concluding, it says that tickets are still on sale on ‘tickethour.com’, and if anyone that had previously purchased a ticket no longer wishes to attend, they will offer a refund.
