A 57-year-old local bus driver lost his life in Nicosia on Monday after he was crushed by the bus itself, as he had forgotten to pull the handbrake before getting off the bus.

According to the police, the unfortunate accident took place just after 11am in the Makedonitissa area of the Nicosia district, near the Makario football stadium.
The 57-year-old driver got off the bus without pulling the handbrake, with the bus subsequently continuing down its course once the driver closed the door. The driver had attempted to stop the bus, which ultimately crushed him.
