Police in Nicosia are examining the circumstances of a late-night road accident involving a car driven by a 16-year-old with six other teenagers as passengers.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Kantara Avenue in the Palouriotissa area. As the vehicle entered the roundabout connecting with Agiou Ilarionos Avenue, the driver lost control for reasons still being examined. The car overturned and struck a metal fence before coming to a stop.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and five of the occupants were taken to Nicosia General Hospital. Those transported included the driver, two 15-year-olds, and two 17-year-olds. One of the 15-year-olds remained under observation at Makarios Hospital as a precaution, while the others were treated and later discharged.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle is owned by a company managed by the driver’s father. Authorities are also looking into how the teenager came to be in possession of the car and driving it.
The Nicosia Traffic Department continues its investigation into the case.
