It seems even priests are tempted to get on the ChatGPT bandwagon, leaving the saving of souls to algorithms; at least that’s the concern of Pope Leo XIV.
During a meeting with clergy from the Diocese of Rome, the pope warned about the “temptation” to hand over sermon writing to artificial intelligence. He cautioned that relying on AI could let the human mind “atrophy,” stressing that no machine can truly preach the faith.
“AI will never be able to preach the faith,” the pope said, emphasizing that Christianity is not just about reciting prayers but about maintaining a living relationship with God.
The remarks come amid wider discussions about AI in education, communication, and now religion, a reminder that some traditions may resist automation, even in the digital age.
