Citizen stops illegal dumping attempt by following loaded truck

A resident of Strovolos intercepted an attempt to illegally dump materials in a local natural area by tracking a loaded double-cab truck.

In a post shared on social media Tuesday, the citizen said he followed the vehicle along a dirt road within the municipality, ultimately preventing the driver from discarding items near a river at the end of Constantinoupoleos Street.

“I foiled his plans,” the post reads, referring to the location as a “well-known dumping spot” and urging the Strovolos Municipality and the Cyprus Police to take action.

The resident added that the truck was carrying unwanted materials intended for disposal in the area and highlighted the site as a recurring problem within municipal boundaries along the Kalogero River.

Photos accompanying the social media post show the loaded truck before it was stopped.
