Airports in Cyprus remain operational and unaffected by the major technical problems caused by software linked to Microsoft that has disrupted services for banks, airlines, media, and other public sectors worldwide. However, flights may still experience delays due to these global issues, airlines warn.
According to sources, Cyprus airports are not directly impacted by the technical difficulties plaguing several international airlines. The delays that might occur are expected to stem from changes in the flight schedules of airlines from other countries affected by the software issues.
AEGEAN Airlines released a statement acknowledging the global air transport problems due to an antivirus system provider's issues. While their operations remain largely unaffected, AEGEAN noted that their website services and flights to certain airports might experience some disruption. They advised passengers to stay updated through the airline’s official channels.
Ryanair also addressed the situation, citing disruptions across their entire network due to the global IT system outage beyond their control. They recommend all passengers arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure time to accommodate potential delays.
Similarly, Wizz Air issued a press release urging passengers to arrive at least three hours prior to their flights. The airline noted that it faces significant technical challenges due to the outage of third-party global information systems, which has temporarily rendered its website and mobile app services unavailable.
As the situation continues to evolve, passengers are encouraged to check with their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flights.
