Cyprus has introduced new rules for electric scooter users, setting the minimum legal age at 17 years old under legislation now in effect.
The updated laws apply to personal mobility devices, including e-scooters, and were published in the Republic’s Official Gazette on April 22, 2026. Authorities say the changes are intended to regulate how and where the devices are used.
The legislation outlines approved operating areas, technical and safety requirements, and standards for equipment suitability. It also gives authorities the right to confiscate devices when offences are committed.
New regulations have also been introduced for companies involved in renting out e-scooters and managing their circulation.
Police said Municipal and Community Authorities have been granted additional responsibilities connected to monitoring and handling personal mobility devices under the revised legal framework.
