The Cyprus-Greece passenger ferry is gearing up for another season, with the Daleela setting sail from Limassol on Saturday, May 31. The service, now in its fourth year, will run 22 round trips between Cyprus and Piraeus, continuing to offer travelers an alternative to air travel.

At a press conference held at the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli and representatives of Scandro Holding Ltd, the company operating the route, shared details about the 2025 season. This follows the government’s decision to extend the ferry contract for another three years (2025-2027).

A Lifeline for Travelers

Deputy Minister Hadjimanoli highlighted that reviving the Cyprus-Greece ferry link was one of the key initiatives of the Shipping Ministry. The goal was to provide a reliable and affordable alternative for people who prefer not to fly.

“This service has been a lifeline for travelers who face difficulties flying, whether for medical reasons, age, or fear of flying,” she said. She also reminded the public that the ferry operates under a General Economic Interest Service (GEIS) framework, receiving €5.5 million in annual government subsidies.

Beyond its convenience for passengers, Hadjimanoli noted that the ferry has also boosted local tourism, attracting travelers who wish to bring their private vehicles or motorcycles between Greece and Cyprus. Since its launch, the ferry has transported 22,582 passengers, 7,641 vehicles, and 772 pets.

Looking ahead, she expressed optimism about the long-term viability of the service. “We hope that after the subsidy period ends, the shipping industry will step in to keep this connection going,” she said. “Our ultimate goal is for this route to pave the way for additional ferry links with neighboring countries in the future.”

Ferry Schedule and Ticketing

Scandro Holding Ltd CEO, Charalambos Manoli, announced that Daleela will operate 22 trips this season, starting from Limassol on May 31 and concluding with a final return journey from Piraeus on September 2.

The full schedule will be available on the company’s website later today, and ticket bookings will open on April 4. While ticket prices remain largely unchanged from last year, Manoli mentioned a small increase of about €1 in port fees.

Expressing gratitude to the Deputy Ministry of Shipping for extending the contract, he emphasized that public demand has been strong. “This shows that people have truly embraced this ferry service,” he said.

“We hope for another successful season like the previous ones. Each year, we work on improving both the company’s services and the vessel itself. I’ve been informed that this year, there will also be some upgrades to the ship,” he added.

With steady growth in demand, the Daleela ferry continues to be a valuable transportation link between Cyprus and Greece, offering travelers a relaxed and scenic journey across the Mediterranean.
