The Pancyprian Union of Government Doctors (PASYKI) is taking action over what it describes as "unacceptable working conditions" caused by ongoing construction at Limassol General Hospital. Starting Wednesday, March 12, doctors from affected specialties will cease providing services at the hospital’s outpatient clinics, the union announced.
In a statement issued today, PASYKI addressed the issue raised last week, noting that construction work is taking place "literally over the heads of doctors and patients," creating significant concern and discomfort.
Previously, PASYKI warned that noise and pollution from the construction were negatively impacting the hospital environment. The union stated that doctors are struggling to concentrate and provide proper care, while patients are also "suffering from the noise and disruption."
Additionally, PASYKI criticized the State Health Services Organization, accusing it of failing to act proactively and properly address the situation. The union also pointed to a "lack of planning" and a failure to consider the needs and safety of both hospital staff and patients.
