Dogs found living in squalor at Limassol property

Authorities investigate potential public health threat as emaciated, injured dogs found in filthy conditions.

Authorities in Limassol have uncovered what they described as appalling and unsanitary conditions at a private property where numerous dogs were being kept in squalor.

The discovery was made during a coordinated inspection involving the Veterinary Services, the Animal Police, the local Health Department, and a volunteer animal welfare advocate. Officials say they found several dogs living in extreme neglect, with some animals visibly ill, injured, and in urgent need of medical care.

Photos taken during the visit and later made public show dogs in filthy enclosures surrounded by waste, with inadequate access to food, water, and shelter. Authorities described the scene as both tragic and disturbing.

Beyond concerns for animal welfare, officials noted the property also poses a serious risk to public health. Accumulated waste and unsanitary conditions may create a breeding ground for disease, prompting further investigation by health inspectors.
