Press Release
The first phase of the innovative corporate social responsibility program “Esso Safe Vision” by eWise Cyprus Ltd, the Esso Branded Supplier, has concluded with significant and practical results. A total of 235 drivers participated in the nationwide campaign, which offered free eye exams at selected Esso service stations across Cyprus.
Over seven events, the initiative confirmed the importance of increased vision monitoring for drivers as part of broader efforts to prevent road accidents.
Key findings show that 46% of drivers tested have good vision and can drive safely without corrective measures, while 43% have adequate vision but would benefit from small, yet important, corrective interventions. The most concerning result is that 11% of drivers — roughly 1 in 9 — do not meet basic visual safety standards, often driving without realizing their limited vision, putting themselves and others at risk.
The central takeaway of the program is clear: drivers should ensure their eyesight is properly checked before getting behind the wheel, as good vision is a key factor in preventing traffic accidents.

The program is implemented by eWise Cyprus — Esso Branded Supplier, under the auspices of the Cyprus Police (Traffic Department) and in collaboration with the Cyprus Opticians Council, with equipment provided by A. Potamitis Medicare.
Building on its success and focus on accident prevention, eWise Cyprus will expand “Esso Safe Vision” activities in 2026. The upcoming schedule of eye exam visits at Esso stations is as follows:
