A new chapter in care and inclusion for adults with disabilities and autism is starting in Strovolos, thanks to an initiative led by Eurobank. The bank has announced the launch of an architectural competition for a day care center designed specifically for people over 21 with disabilities, marking the first step toward bringing the project to life.

The center, set to be built in the parish of Agios Dimitrios, will cover 740 square meters and is budgeted at €1.63 million, fully financed by Eurobank. The bank is also overseeing construction management, aiming to ensure the project is completed efficiently and to high standards.

“This is more than a building,” said Eurobank CEO Michalis Louis when the initiative was announced last summer. “It’s about dignity, safety, and hope, giving adults with disabilities and autism the support and opportunities they deserve, while also offering families peace of mind.”

Once completed, the center will be operated by the Deputy Ministry of Welfare, offering a safe and supportive environment with specially designed spaces and trained staff. Adults attending the day care center will have access to programs that focus on skill development, creative engagement, and social inclusion.

In addition, two independent living residences for adults with autism will provide individualized living support, allowing residents to develop independence while benefiting from professional care.

Eurobank’s initiative reflects its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, aiming to make a meaningful impact on the local community and enhance the lives of vulnerable groups. The architectural competition will select the design that best balances functionality, accessibility, environmental considerations, and cost efficiency, ensuring the center is both practical and welcoming.

With construction underway and specialized programs planned, the Day Care Center and the Independent Living Residences promise to become a hub of empowerment, learning, and community support for adults with disabilities and autism in Cyprus.
