Residents whose homes, commercial premises or vehicles were damaged by the severe weather that hit Cyprus on August 29 are being asked to submit their details as part of the process for receiving financial assistance.
The Ministry of Interior said District Administration teams across Cyprus have already begun recording and assessing damage caused by the extreme weather. Cases involving more serious or extensive damage are being given priority.
According to the latest assessment, 183 homes in 20 communities and three municipalities have so far been identified as affected, with most of the reported damage located in Nicosia District. Damage has also been recorded to public infrastructure.
Those seeking financial assistance must provide their details to the relevant District Administration by Monday, September 7, 2026. The information will allow officials to verify and assess individual cases before assistance is allocated.
Applicants must submit:
- Name
- Address
- Contact telephone number
The above details must be accompanied by photographs showing the damage and sent to the designated email address of the relevant District Administration.
The Ministry of Interior is handling applications concerning residential properties, commercial premises and vehicles.
The amount of financial support available to people affected by the storms has not yet been set. The Council of Ministers will decide both the eligibility criteria and the level of ex gratia financial assistance to be provided.
Authorities are continuing their assessment of the damage across the island, with the information submitted by affected residents and businesses forming part of the process used to determine the assistance that will be granted.
