A fire broke out near a farm in Aradippou on Saturday afternoon, destroying 300 hay bales and prompting an extended response from the Fire Service.
In a post on X, Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said fire crews from Larnaca responded to the blaze around 4 p.m. with three fire engines. The fire occurred in the livestock farming area of Aradippou.
Kettis said that animals and farm structures were protected and were not at risk during the incident.
The response was supported by a fire engine from the Forestry Department, two excavators, and a telescopic lifting machine, he said.
Fire crews worked through the night alongside the excavators to move hay bales and fully contain the fire. One fire engine remains at the scene as a precaution.
The cause of the fire is under investigation in cooperation with police.
