Four minors have been detained in connection with a bombing at a beer hall in the Zakaki area of Limassol, police said Monday.

The suspects, two 17-year-olds, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old, were already in custody in connection with a June 8 bakery robbery in which assailants used a knife and stole a cash register containing €500.

Following new evidence, the minors were re-arrested over the May 29 bombing and brought before Limassol District Court on Monday. A judge ordered them held for eight days pending further investigation.

“There was written testimony indicating their involvement in an attempted property destruction case using explosives at a premises in the Zakaki area,” said Lefteris Kyriakou, head of the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department.

Kyriakou said investigators are examining whether the minors were acting alone or under orders from others.

The court proceedings were held behind closed doors due to the suspects’ ages.
