We've made it to Friday, and the island is keeping things remarkably consistent. The seasonal low-pressure system continues to hold its ground, which means we are in for a thoroughly classic, sun-drenched July day. If you have outdoor plans to kick off the evening, the weather is playing right along.
Most of the island will enjoy wide-open, sunny skies for the vast majority of the day. The only minor exception is up in the Troodos range, where you can expect some localized cloud cover to gather during the afternoon hours. Fortunately, these clouds are not packing any real trouble today, so hikers and mountain vacationers can enjoy the fresh air without worry.
If you are working or living inland, prepare for a serious sizzle as temperatures climb to a flat 40°C. It is definitely a day for staying close to the air conditioning and keeping your water bottle topped up. The southern, eastern, and northern coasts will feel a bit more comfortable at around 35°C, while the west coast remains the absolute coolest coastal escape at a beautiful 32°C. For those lucky enough to be hiding out in the higher mountains, you will get to enjoy a much fresher 30°C.
The outlook
As we look toward Saturday and Sunday, most areas across the island will continue to enjoy mostly sunny skies with only occasional patches of passing cloud. However, the atmosphere over the high peaks will get just a little bit more active once the weekend officially begins.
After midday on both Saturday and Sunday, clouds developing over the mountains are expected to bring some isolated showers or even a sudden summer thunderstorm. If your plans involve the mountain roads or pine forests over the next couple of days, just keep a quick eye on the sky after lunch.
Temperatures across the island are not expected to change significantly through Sunday, meaning we are staying locked into these hot, slightly above-average numbers. Stay cool and have a fantastic Friday!
