Friday’s forecast: The weather’s in a mood, but It means well

Clouds flirt with commitment issues while the mountains prepare for an afternoon sprinkle of excitement.

Newsroom

A weak low-pressure system has drifted into town, bringing along some suspended dust, like confetti from a party no one remembers attending.

Today: The sky is doing its best impression of uncertainty: starting partly cloudy, then slowly piling on more clouds as the day goes on. By afternoon, a few showers and thunderstorms may roll through (mainly over the mountains, inland, and the north) because those areas never miss a chance to show off.

Winds will wander from the southwest to northwest at a mild 3–4 Beaufort, the meteorological equivalent of “meh.” The sea remains calm to slightly rough, which is weather-speak for “don’t get too comfortable, but it’s fine.” Temperatures will climb to 26°C inland, hover around 24°C on the coasts, and keep things brisk at 16°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight: The clouds can’t quite let go, so expect partly cloudy skies. Winds turn northwesterly to northeasterly, or southeasterly on the northern coast, all lightly shuffling along at 3 Beaufort. The sea stays calm to slightly rough, probably tired from pretending to be interesting all day.

Saturday: The sky’s still toying with the idea of moodiness. Expect partly cloudy moments with the occasional afternoon shower, mostly over the mountains, which clearly enjoy being the main characters of any weather plotline.

Sunday & Monday: Finally, the sky takes a deep breath, straightens itself out, and gives us mostly clear conditions; a well-deserved pause after all that atmospheric indecision.

Temperatures are staying steady, a touch above average, like that one guest who won’t leave the dinner table but at least brings good conversation.
