The U.S. Congress has formally summoned Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to appear before the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to answer questions about his relationship with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. The committee is investigating Epstein’s sex trafficking operations and seeking to identify his co-conspirators.
In a letter signed by 16 Democratic committee members, lawmakers cited Andrew’s long-standing friendship with Epstein, travel on Epstein’s private jet, visits to his residences, including Balmoral and Epstein’s U.S. Virgin Islands island, and a 2011 email in which Andrew wrote, “we are in this together.” The letter also referenced allegations by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual abuse as a minor and whose posthumous memoir detailed fears of retaliation and a gag order from a 2022 settlement with Andrew.
Andrew, who has denied wrongdoing, was stripped of his royal titles and removed from his Windsor estate residence amid scrutiny of his ties to Epstein. The committee has requested a transcribed interview by November 20, citing the urgency and gravity of the investigation.
