From calm seas to strong breezes: Your week in weather

Mostly sunny, a touch breezy, and just hot enough to remind us summer’s still here.

Well, that was a delightful long weekend, wasn’t it? Did it live up to all your plans, or at least most of them? Either way, it’s time to swap the picnic blankets for planners, because here comes the weather to kick off the new week.

Today: Expect mostly clear skies, though the west may get some extra cloud cover sneaking in. Winds are starting out on the polite side, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, but don’t get too cozy. They’ll pick up strength as the day goes on, reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort in the southwest. The sea will keep things interesting too: calm in the south and east at first, but choppier elsewhere. Temperature check: around 36°C inland (perfect excuse for ice cream), 31°C on the western/southwestern coasts, 34°C on the other coasts, and a cooler 29°C up in the mountains.

Tonight: The skies stay mostly clear, though some low clouds might linger in the west and north. Winds calm down a bit, hovering around 3 Beaufort, occasionally 4. The sea also relaxes in the east and south, while the rest stays gently moderate. Temperatures dip to 21°C inland, 23°C along the coasts, and a crisp 18°C in the higher mountains, ideal for a late evening stroll.

Tuesday through Thursday: Sunshine remains the star of the show, with just a few local clouds drifting by here and there.

And by Thursday temperatures will sneak just above average, because summer clearly isn’t ready to give up the spotlight yet.
