Police authorities are carrying out an extensive investigation following a serious violent incident that erupted in central Larnaca, just a short distance from the city’s Police Headquarters.
Video material circulating from the scene documents a confrontation between two groups of people in broad daylight. The footage shows the individuals moving aggressively toward one another, with some appearing to carry axes and wooden clubs. The clash unfolded in a public area, with pedestrians and passing vehicles nearby.
During the altercation, the sound of at least two gunshots can be clearly heard. Shortly afterward, those involved dispersed rapidly, leaving the scene before police could intervene. One of the men involved appears in the footage with his clothing torn during the struggle.
Investigators are now closely analyzing the video frame by frame in an effort to identify those who took part. Police sources indicate that arrest warrants are expected once the suspects’ identities are confirmed.
In the aftermath of the incident, several individuals sought medical treatment for injuries. Some were treated at private clinics, while others went to Larnaca General Hospital. Authorities continue to examine all available evidence to establish what led to the violence and the exact sequence of events surrounding the gunfire.
