High heat dominate this week's weather

Temperatures soar as clear skies prevail

Weak high pressure and hot air masses are affecting our area.

Today, we’re expecting mostly clear skies. Winds will start off light and variable at 3 Beaufort, shifting to a southwest to northwest direction, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort later in the day. The sea will be rough to slightly choppy. Temperatures will reach a scorching 42 degrees Celsius in the interior, around 37 degrees on the southern and eastern coasts, and about 31 degrees on the rest of the coast and in the higher mountains.

Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear. Winds will gradually shift to a northwest to northeast direction, light at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly choppy. Temperatures will drop to around 24 degrees Celsius inland and on the coast, and down to 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we’re in for more clear skies. However, do note that on Friday, we might experience some light dust in the atmosphere.

Temperatures through Friday are expected to stay consistent, remaining well above average for this time of year.
