A police attempt to stop a suspicious vehicle in Limassol escalated into a high-speed chase and gunfire on Thursday, ending with the suspect fleeing on foot. A manhunt is currently underway.
According to an official police statement, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. in the Parekklisia area when officers from the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit tried to intercept the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and later caused a traffic collision before abandoning the car and escaping on foot.
Sources reported that officers fired warning shots during the pursuit.
Authorities are examining the abandoned vehicle and believe the suspect may be linked to previous drug-related investigations.
