The Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) will come up with a plan to optimize the General Healthcare System (GHS), in collaboration with the Health Ministry, Stavros Michael, President of HIO said in a statement, after meeting with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at the Presidential Palace on Monday.
In statements after the meeting, Michael said that he discussed with the President what needs to be done to improve the GHS, in order to offer better and upgraded services to the Cypriot citizens.
"We agreed with the President that one month from today, we will present, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, a plan with the actions needed to improve the whole situation, to reduce the distortions in the system, with a higher priority to the current problems in the ER Departments, the quality criteria of hospitals, the innovative medicines," he added.
"The President assured me of the support we will have from the Government in any changes that will be in the direction of improved services offered to Cypriot citizens," Michael concluded.
