A weak low-pressure system is lingering over the island, never quite making up its mind, and determined to keep us all guessing.
Today begins under a blanket of cloud, with the odd shower brushing coastal areas and perhaps a lone thunderstorm grumbling its way across the north. By midday, things become more lively. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to pop up, particularly over the mountains, inland regions, and toward the east. Some of these may even toss down a bit of hail.
Winds will start off easygoing, shifting between directions at 3 to 4 Beaufort, before settling into a southwest to northwest flow. Along southern and eastern coasts, they may briefly pick up strength, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will range from slight to moderate; calmer in the east, for those seeking a gentler view.
Temperatures will remain pleasant around 23°C inland and along the southeast and east coasts, near 22°C elsewhere by the sea, and about 13°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, clouds gather again over the west, where a passing shower, or even a late-night thunderstorm, may quietly roll through. Winds stay on the gentle side, and the sea keeps its mild, manageable state.
Good Friday offers a breather, with mostly clear skies, though the west may still see a fleeting morning shower.
Holy Saturday brings intervals of cloud and the outside chance of a brief shower, nothing that should disrupt plans for long.
By Easter Sunday, the island brightens up again, with mostly clear conditions. A little afternoon cloud may build over the south and southeast, possibly squeezing out a quick shower before fading away.
Winds over the long weekend may occasionally freshen from the west to northwest, adding a bit of energy to the air. Temperatures will dip slightly as we approach Holy Saturday, before steadying on Easter Sunday, hovering just below the seasonal norm.
