Homeowners to receive state aid for storm-damaged solar water heaters

Government to dole out up to €300 per household, distributing €768,000 in relief by October.

Newsroom

Homeowners whose solar water heaters were damaged during severe weather in February will receive financial assistance by the end of October, the government announced Thursday.

The Ministry of Interior said the Council of Ministers has approved funding covering 50% of the estimated repair costs, up to a maximum of €300 per household. Officials estimate that a total of around €768,000 will be distributed across all provinces.

Citizens who submitted applications are reminded to provide their completed FIMAS authorization form and a copy of their bank account IBAN to the relevant District Administration if they haven’t already done so.

The ex-gratia payments will be made in a single installment directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the end of October.

The move aims to help households recover from the impact of last February’s storms, which caused widespread damage to residential solar water heating systems.
