The increase of the efficiency of the Tax Department, both for the collection of taxes and for the service of the public is of the utmost importance, stressed the Minister of Finance Konstantinos Petridis, during his visit today to the Nicosia District Tax Office.
A statement from the Ministry of Finance states that during his visit, Mr. Petridis "was briefed on the problems faced by the Department, discussing ways to further increase its efficiency, to combat tax evasion and better serve the public, in order to turn the page on more modern, unified processes for the benefit of all ".
Addressing the staff of the Department, the Minister stressed, as stated, "that this is one of the most important Departments of the Government as it is a source of funding for all development and social policies of the state."
It adds that "special emphasis was placed on the need to increase on-the-spot checks to combat tax evasion and upgrade the services of the Department, with the Minister emphasizing that increasing its efficiency, both for the collection of taxes and for the service of the public is the highest of importance ".

According to the announcement, the reform underway in the Tax Department includes, among other things, the introduction of a new unified telephone number and better service to the public, while a timetable has been set for the handling of overdue cases which, with further staffing, are expected to contribute to modernization of the Department.
