Karolina Pelendritou is the champion of the 50 m. free race at the European Para-swimming European Open Championships in Madeira.

After an excellent race, touching her personal best, she finished first in the final of the 50m.

According to a press release, the Cypriot athlete greatly improved the time she had done on Sunday (31. 48) and finished with a time of 29. 72 to reach the finish line first. Her time is very close to her own record (29. 71) and an indication of her excellent race is the fact that it is an improvement on her Gold in Tokyo when she ran 29. 79, it added.

Pelendritou becomes European Champion for the third time and for the first time in the 50m. freestyle, since her previous firsts were in the 100m. in Berlin in 2011 and in Eindhoven in 2014. Overall, it is the sixth time she has been on the podium.

The three times Paralympian will continue on Tuesday, her participation in the Madeira Games, this time in the 100m.
