A fresh chapter is about to begin for the old warehouses in Kato Pyrgos, Tillyria, as the government has approved a €1.3 million budget to restore and transform the historic buildings into a vibrant cultural hub.
Work on the project is expected to start this September, according to Nikos Cleanthous, president of the Tillyria Community Complex and Kato Pyrgos Community Council.
Cleanthous told CNA that the community’s request for renovating the warehouses has been officially approved following talks with Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou.
The plan is to turn the two warehouses into a lively cultural center, hosting various events for residents and visitors alike. Alongside the event spaces, the project will include a café-restaurant to offer a welcoming spot for locals to gather and unwind.
“We’re grateful to the Nicosia District Governor, the Minister of Interior, and the government for supporting this initiative,” Cleanthous said. “Once restored, these warehouses will become a true jewel of our community.”
The transformation promises to breathe new life into Kato Pyrgos, creating a space where culture, community, and good food come together under one roof.
