Children with disabilities in Larnaca now have new, accessible playground equipment to enjoy, following an uplifting community event last Saturday at Pavlou Melas Park.

The initiative, spearheaded by the volunteer group Little Volunteers, aims to promote inclusion and equal access for all children. The new installations are part of a broader effort to make public spaces more welcoming and accommodating for children with different physical abilities.

In a festive atmosphere filled with music, laughter, and group games, families gathered to celebrate the launch. The event featured a performance by artist Nefeli Antoniou, interactive storytelling, and activities designed to bring children together through play.

“This is another important step toward building a more inclusive society,” said Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras. “Every child deserves the opportunity to play and participate fully in community life.”

The event was held under the Mayor’s auspices and attended by local officials, including the deputy mayor of Larnaca, MP Andreas Apostolou, and representatives from local schools and organizations supporting children with special needs.

Larnaca Municipality praised the initiative as a meaningful act of social awareness, underlining the importance of accessible public spaces for fostering inclusion and equality.
