A 46-year-old woman continues to fight for her life, hospitalized in extremely critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Limassol. This follows a shooting on Tuesday morning (June 30) by her 55-year-old husband, a member of the Police Force, who subsequently ended his own life.
The 46-year-old underwent hours of surgery yesterday and remains intubated, with her health status described as particularly grave. According to information, she reportedly sustained four gunshot wounds, one of which was to the head.
Investigation into premeditation and the scene
The Police are investigating a case of attempted murder, with inquiries now focusing on the exact circumstances under which the bloody incident unfolded, as well as whether there was premeditation.
Among other things, investigators are scrutinizing the route the 55-year-old took prior to the incident, as well as the location where it took place. According to information, the road where the shooting occurred is a short distance from the couple’s home and was reportedly a route the 46-year-old used to travel to work.
At the same time, authorities are examining the fact that the 46-year-old's vehicle was parked at the scene in a manner that, according to sources, forms a piece of the investigation. This element is being evaluated as part of the investigators' efforts to determine exactly how the two individuals ended up at that specific spot and what preceded the gunfire.

Seeking the motive
A central question in the investigation remains whether the 55-year-old had planned the attack in advance. For the time being, the Police are keeping all possibilities open, while investigators review testimonies, telecommunications data, CCTV footage, and any other evidence that could shed light on the 55-year-old's movements prior to the attack.
As part of the inquiry into the motive, sources report that the couple's finances are also being investigated, while specific information and allegations brought before the investigators are being evaluated.
Deployment and the incident timeline
Regarding the service weapon, according to evidence under investigation, the 55-year-old had reported for duty normally in the morning and was issued his service firearm. As it appears, shortly afterwards, he gave an excuse stating he would be leaving, took his weapon, and departed from his workplace.
The 55-year-old was assigned guard duties at a specific site under the jurisdiction of the Port Police. As reported yesterday, the 55-year-old allegedly met with the 46-year-old outside a high school in Zakaki. The couple's two vehicles were found at the scene, while an eyewitness, who happened to be passing by, reportedly attempted to intervene when he noticed tension inside the vehicle.
According to his testimony, he saw the man holding the woman by the neck and shouted at him to let her go. He stated that the 55-year-old replied, "Get out of here, she's my wife," and then allegedly turned the gun toward him, threatening, "Leave or I'll shoot you." Immediately after, according to the same witness, the 55-year-old shot the 46-year-old and subsequently shot himself.
Police investigations are ongoing, with investigators taking statements from individuals in the couple's family, professional, and wider social circles, as well as from the 55-year-old's colleagues, in order to fully establish what preceded the incident.
