Cyprus-Luxembourg diplomatic ties in focus as Bettel visits

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel is paying an official visit to Cyprus on Tuesday 29 October, following an invitation by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. Bettel will be received by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides in the morning.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the framework of the visit, the two Ministers will have a private meeting followed by extended consultations with the participation of delegations of the two Ministries, before making statements to the media at the end of the consultations.

The discussions will focus on bilateral relations, the Cyprus problem, issues related to the European agenda, as well as current regional and international developments, with a focus on the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine.

It is added that the two officials they will participate as keynote speakers in an open debate on European integration and the role of the small member states of the European Union, organised on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Cyprus' accession to the EU. The event is taking place at the University of Cyprus.
