A 31-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with a series of burglaries and thefts carried out in Larnaca earlier this month, police said on Wednesday.
The incidents occurred between 16 and 25 January and involved five different businesses across the city. The targeted premises included a café-restaurant, a hair salon, two bookstores, and a private tutoring center.
Investigators report that a variety of items were stolen during the break-ins, including a laptop, a loudspeaker, a cash register, and a donation box containing funds collected on behalf of a charitable organization. In addition, approximately €180 was taken from the cash drawers of four of the five locations.
Following the evaluation of evidence gathered during the investigation, authorities secured a court-issued arrest warrant. The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon and remains in police custody while further inquiries are carried out.
The cases are being handled by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department, which continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the burglaries.
