A male suspect has been arrested in connection with stranger danger incidents near local schools in Nicosia.

Police told Knews on Tuesday afternoon that a man was arrested on a court warrant following suspicions he may be the person behind recent encounters with young children in Nicosia neighbourhoods within school districts.
Police also told Knews that investigators expected to learn more during questioning to ascertain whether authorities have the right man in custody
The man was expected to be questioned by law enforcement later in the day to determine whether he might be the unknown adult male who approached kids with his car last month.
Local authorities in east Nicosia have been on high alert following a number of parental complaints about a male suspect who has been approaching boys and girls after school.
In one case, the unknown male was quoted as telling a child “your dad told me to come and get you” while he asked in another incident whether a child’s uncle was coming to pick them up.
Officials said there were no allegations of any abduction attempts.
Police also told Knews that investigators expected to learn more during questioning to ascertain whether authorities have the right man in custody and whether he could be the same person involved in a number of incidents.
