An elderly man was killed in an accident on Thursday night, after he was struck by a vehicle as it was entering a parking lot in Nicosia.
According to police, 75-year-old Andreas Papakyprianou was struck by a vehicle near the School for the Blind in Strovolos, Nicosia, on Thursday evening around 8:45pm.
Local media said Papakyprianou was walking along the side of the road when a 52-year-old male driver attempted to make a left turn into a car park.
It was not clear whether the driver or the pedestrian failed to yield based on the brief description of the accident

An official report said the accident took place on Heracliou Street, as the vehicle was making a left turn into the parking lot and struck the pedestrian, causing him multiple injuries.
Papakyprianou was rushed to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
Officers placed the driver under arrest while his charges were not immediately clear. Police told Knews the man, described as a Nicosia resident, was being detained for questioning while a Breathalyzer test showed zero alcohol consumption.
