Man's 'balcony death’ shrouded in mystery

Police say they are investigating a case of ‘sudden death’ in a downtown Nicosia case

Newsroom

The body of an unidentified man found on a balcony in Nicosia remained shrouded in a mystery, with police saying they were investigating a “sudden death” case.

Media reports said a resident on the second floor of an apartment on Makariou Avenue, downtown Nicosia, found on his balcony the body of an unknown adult male Saturday morning.

A state forensic pathologist was called to the scene while media reports picked up on speculation that the man might have fallen from another balcony higher up.

Investigators had ruled out any foul play, according to earlier reports.

On Monday, police told Knews they would not comment on the case citing their policy involving “sudden death” cases.

The case is still under investigation.
