It’s a scene we’ve all seen before – someone thinking they’re above the rules and parking wherever they feel like it. But this time, the mayor of Paphos, Phedonas Phedonos, wasn’t about to let it slide.
A car was spotted parked on the grass near the Kato Paphos harbor, and while many may have rolled their eyes and carried on, Phedonos wasn’t having any of it. Instead of keeping quiet, the mayor snapped a photo (license plate hidden, of course) and made his feelings known on social media.
He posted the image with the caption: “He thought it was okay to park in the green space instead of the parking lot right next to the Kato Paphos harbor. It’s a matter of culture.”
Ouch. Looks like someone needs a lesson in parking 101.
This isn’t Phedonos’ first rodeo. He’s previously called out a driver who dumped trash in a public space. So when it comes to bad behavior, the mayor’s not shy about giving people a little public correction.
It’s all part of his bigger message – that we all need to take pride in our public spaces. And apparently, that includes not treating the local green areas like your personal parking lot. So, the next time you think about parking on the grass, remember: Mayor Phedonos is watching, and he’s not impressed.
