A memorial run will be held this Sunday in Limassol to honor the life of Dex, a 27-year-old Nigerian man who tragically lost his life in the recent apartment building collapse in Germasogeia.

The event, scheduled for April 19 at 10:00 a.m., is being organized by local running groups Sea Legs Run and Team Runnins. The initiative was announced via social media, where members of the community shared heartfelt tributes and invited the public to participate in both remembrance and support.

Dex, described by friends and fellow runners as “a person full of positivity,” had become a well-known and cherished member of the local running community. He was remembered as someone who “loved Cyprus and treated everyone around him with respect,” always carrying a smile despite the challenges he faced.

According to the organizers, Dex had moved to Cyprus in pursuit of a better life, working hard to support his mother and family back in Nigeria. Those who knew him emphasized his humility and warmth, noting how he appreciated simple things and had a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome.

“He was one of those people who bring light wherever they go,” the group wrote in their tribute. “He was there for his friends, for his family, for this community. He was one of us, running non-stop.”

Tragically, Dex lost his life shortly after returning home from a morning run, when the apartment building in Germasogeia collapsed. His sudden passing has left a deep void among friends and fellow runners who had shared in his daily routines.

The memorial run is intended not only as a tribute, but also as a gesture of solidarity. Organizers are raising funds to support Dex’s family in Nigeria during this difficult time, encouraging donations through a link shared on their social platforms.

Sunday’s run will be open to all members of the public, offering a chance for the community to come together in remembrance of a man many describe as unforgettable.

“In his memory, we run,” the organizers wrote. “Gone too soon. Never forgotten.”
